4th Jan 2026

It was as cold as charity and that’s darn chilly …

Hand warmers, two pairs of gloves, socks, three pairs of trousers plus waterproof overtrousers, two hats. Yes, they worked and I managed to survive the -5 degree+ temperatures all day.

Plenty to find in the field today, including a spectacle buckle (14th-17th C), cut quarter & cut half (not IDd yet), glass piece with P.P. on it and some ceramic with a glaze. Lots of cut quarters / halves on the field, I think the landowner must have been tight.

    You’re a tough one, I’ll say that!

Regarding the green glass piece, I wonder if it actually says P.R.? Perhaps for Pernod Ricard? Tricky one to make sense of, though, that’s for sure.

Sorry, Steve, just responding now. It could be, yes!
